Summer Student Position: Special Events Coordinator

Location: Dauphin, MB
Wage: $19 hr
Term: Summer 2026 (12–16 weeks, flexible based on funding or the student’s needs)

The Parkland Chamber of Commerce is seeking an enthusiastic and organized Summer Student Special Events Coordinator to join our team for Summer 2026! This is an exciting opportunity for a student who is interested in event planning, community engagement, and gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced, creative environment.

About the Role

The Summer Student Special Events Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the planning and execution of one of our largest annual events, the 2026 Parkland Chamber of Commerce Street Fair and Dance, while also assisting with the development and coordination of upcoming 2026/27 Chamber events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning, organizing, and executing the Street Fair and Dance
  • Support vendor coordination, registrations, and communications
  • Assist in sponsorship engagement and fulfillment, including communicating with sponsors, tracking deliverables, and ensuring sponsor recognition is executed.
  • Help manage event logistics including site layout, schedules, and supplies
  • Provide on-site event support before, during, and after events
  • Assist with marketing efforts (social media, promotions, community outreach)
  • Perform general administrative duties (answering phone, emails, data entry, filing, etc.)
  • Contribute ideas and support planning for upcoming Chamber events and initiatives
  • Engage with local businesses, vendors, and community members in a professional manner

What We’re Looking For

  • Student between the ages of 18-30 (Canada Summer Jobs Program)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Positive attitude and willingness to take initiative
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
  • Interest in event planning, business, marketing, or community development is an asset
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, social media platforms)
